Not one to shy away from the extreme, Balcony's Steven Lester returns with a double-album of serious merit and scope.  Softer in many ways than his earlier output, Sparrows & Hawks takes Balcony's penchant for the grand and grandiose to new heights on cuts like "It's All We Have" and "State of Things."  The edge of previous recordings is still there on cuts like "Vacuum Flowers and Superclowns."  And everything in between is simply wonderful.
